Homeopathic dilution (also known as “dynamisation” or “potentisation”) is a process in which a crude substances (plant, animal, or minerals) are diluted to a certain degree of the original substance which may be a crushed and is diluted with alcohol or distilled water and then vigorously shaken in a process called “succussion”. Dr Hahnemann believed that the process of succussion activates the “vital energy” of the diluted substance and that successive dilution increases the “potency” of the preparation.
